Modesto at VDL Stud

The successful Grand Prix and KWPN Acknowledged stallion, Modesto, has been returned to the Netherlands.
We, the VDL Stud are proud to announce that we could buy Modesto and make him available for Dutch breeders and breeders from all over the world.
He is available for the 2012 breeding season by fresh and frozen semen.

Modesto, aged 17, is a son of Grandeur – himself a 1.60m jumper. Keur, Preferent and Prestatie dam Dersinaa, sired by the famous thoroughbred stallion Lucky Boy, descends from Majoor x Marco Polo x Sinaeda. This dam line is the family Nr. 20, the Sina-line, long recognized as a superlative supplier of world class jumpers, approved sons and exceptional breeding daughters. Dersinaa is the dam of the Approved stallion Highlight and the granddam of the Approved stallion and International Jumper Emmerton VDL. Other well-known horses from this line are MacKinley, Cavalier, VDL Rocksina, Heechiem’s Tersina, Vivaldi K, Nerina, Urasinaa, etc.

Modesto retired from an impressive career as a show jumper. An anchor for the French show jumping team with his rider, Jean Marc Nicolas, the stallion had honor rounds in the Nations Cup competitions in Rotterdam, Rome, Lissabon, Lyon and Lummen.
Individually, Modesto was ridden to 2nd place at the World Cup finals and was successful throughout the World Cup series: 2nd in Leipzig, 3rd in Gothenburg, 5th and 6th in Vigo, 7th in Stuttgart, Verona and Bordeaux.
This incredibly consistent stallion won and placed at many Grand Prix as well: 1st in Vilamoura and Pontedera, 2nd in Vigo, Kuala Lumpur, Madrid, Aachen, Leeuwarden and Vejer de la Frontera, 3rd in Birmingham, Comporta and Porimao, 4th Lissabon, Paris and Barcelona, 5th in Porto, Vienna and Bremen, 6th in La Coruna, etc. The World Equestrian Games in Aachen was also a stop on Modesto’s career tour.

Modesto gained additional recognition several times by earning as high as ninth place on the ranking lists of The World Breeding Federation of Sport Horses.

Modesto is Erkend (Acknowledged) by the KWPN and is Approved by the Selle Francais and the Studbook of Switzerland.
Although used lightly as a breeding stallion in France, his first offspring there are showing promise at the 1.40m level. Modesto’s rider, Jean Marc Nicolas, has already had success in the 7 year old young jumper qualifications with Quejetaime. In the VION cup for 5-yr olds, Modesto-son Bugatti (ridden by Henri Stegeman) placed 12th.

Modesto is a stallion of remarkable athleticism, sound constitution, clean hard legs, an eager and willing character and the genetics to back it all up. This promise is already evidenced in the Young Jumper show rings.
Modesto delivers.
