After ten successful auctions the WSS-horses keep on performing at the highest level

The showjumpers and foals of De Wolden Summer Sale are making their breakthrough over and over again at the international level. Last year, Zilversprings caught the eyes with the Canadian rider Elizabeth Gingras, while this year Christopher Surbey and the Corland-mare Cavarola are a new exciting pair at five-star level. Cavarola was the top-seller of De Wolden Summer Sale in 2011. This year’s auction collection includes again highly talented showjumpers and interesting foals.

The percentage of international showjumpers out of the previous years of De Wolden Summer Sale is still remarkable; over fifty percent of the 7-year-old or older auction horses is performing at 1.35m-level or higher. Last year Zilversprings was the most exciting example of a successful Wolden Summer Sale-horse. Ridden by Elizabeth Gingras, the son of Silverstone was very close to securing a ticket for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and caught the eyes at five-star shows like Spruce Meadows and Gijon. In Calgary, Spruce Meadows, Zilversprings finished as the runner-up in the five-star Grand Prix in July and in Gijon, Team Canada won the Nations Cup and Zilversprings contributed with a double clear result.

Breakthrough Cavarola

However, in 2017 another Canadian pair with a WSS-horse have made their breakthrough at the highest level. The 10-year-old Cavarola (Corland x Wellington) showed off some impressive results with the Canadian rider Christopher Surbey. In Wellington, ‘s-Hertogenbosch and Spruce Meadows the grey mare proved her potential, with the victory in a five-star class in Spruce Meadows as a highlight so far.

The Lupicor-son Adamo has made a change of riders recently and is now competing with the young USA-talent Chloe Reid. The 12-year-old gelding has been successfully competed by Abigail McArdle, but recently Chloe Reid took over the reins. At their debut in Arnhem, the pair finished fourth in one of the three-star classes. The past months, Adamo was also successfully ridden by American riders Marilyn Little and Molly Ashe.

Interesting foals

The 2017 auction collection includes great talent again. For example, foals by the Grand Prix-showjumpers Zirocco Blue VDL, Corporal and Glasgow van ‘t Merelsnest will be auctioned. But also the promising sires I’m Special de Muze and Falaise de Muze will be represented by some offspring. Foals by the top sires Douglas and Cornet Obolensky and by the young stallions Impressive VDL and Hardwell will be auctioned as well.

Eye-catching collection of showjumpers

The collection of showjumpers consists 5- and 6-year-olds this year and all of them have a great potential. A well-known member of the collection is for example the Cantos-son Genua, who won the GMB-competition for young horses this year in Drachten. Earlier on, the gelding secured the second place in the GMB-final in 2016 and won a class for 5-year-olds in Geesteren. The other 6-year-olds out of this year’s collection are the mighty Gold Finger (s. Carrera VDL), the scopey and uncomplicated Gringo (s. Phin Phin), the quality mare Grace (s. Spartacus) and the stunning and talented Gindependence J.W.B. (s. Baltic VDL) out of the damline of Bugatti VDL, Southwind VDL and Freeman VDL.

Strong group of 5-year-olds

The group of 5-year-olds is highly talented as well. For example Huub HBC (s. Charisma), who finished as the runner-up in the GMB-finals with a 9 for jumping and rideability. Or Hiphop (s. Dakar VDL) – a talented showjumper with a great rideability and balance. Hiphop is not only a talented showjumper, but might also be an excellent equitation prospect. There is also the quality mare Himara (s. Indoctro), who scored 8’s in her mare test of the KWPN and stands out due to her reflexes. In conclusion, the collection includes Harley (s. Tygo) – a talented half-brother of Chinook, the runner-up of the Grand Prix of Sankt Gallen – and the Dallas VDL-son Happyboera, who thanks to his scope and attitude could not only be an interesting prospect for a professional, but also for an amateur rider.

De Wolden Summer Sale takes place this coming Saturday July 15th
