VDL offspring make their mark at Deauville

At the international CSIO3* in Deauville (France), two VDL-offspring achieved strong results at the highest level.

On Saturday 6 June, there was a fine victory for Hulahupe JR, the son of Bubalu, in the 1.50m qualifier for the Grand Prix. Ridden by British rider Joe Whitaker, the KWPN horse remained clear in both the basic course and the jump-off and raced to victory in a time of 41.68 seconds. The gelding, bred by J. Reitsma from Driezum, thus once again demonstrated Bubalu’s breeding prowess at international level.

A day later, the 1.55m Grand Prix of Deauville was on the programme. Here, Ehning Flamingo, a son of Cardento, finished in an impressive fifth place. He was ridden by the top French rider Pénélope Leprevost and recorded two clear rounds. With a jump-off time of 40.68 seconds, the pair secured a place in the top five of this prestigious Grand Prix. The Cardento son was bred by SARL Cavalex.

With a victory at 1.50m level for a son of Bubalu and a top placing in the 1.55m Grand Prix for a offspring of Cardento, the VDL stallions once again underline their value in international show jumping.
